Cloud Computing in spotlight with Intel, Microsoft & Google all joining in
It is fair to say that Cloud Computing is a major topic at this year’s COMPUTEX forum. Not only is it a quintessential technology trend for Intel’s e21FORUM2010, but also the Microsoft Forum 2010 and the 2010 Cloud Computing Forum at which Google is the main speaker. These forums will analyze the possible impacts, business opportunities and future prospects of Cloud Computing on mobile computing, information-to-go and everyday applications etc. from the viewpoints of software, hardware and internet service.
This year’s COMPUTEX forum is filled with globally recognizable industry heavyweights, including David Perlmutter, executive vice president and co-general manager of Intel Corporation's Intel Architecture Group (IAG), Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Division and Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Product Management at Google Inc., Rolf Assev, Chief Strategy Officer at Opera Software ASA, Prof. Tzi-cker Chiueh of the Cloud Computing Research Center for Mobile Applications of ITRI & Computer Science Department, Tudor Brown, President of ARM Holdings, Dr. Ted Chang, Vice President, Planning Office, Quanta Research Institute, Quanta Computer Inc. Together they will provide various insights and directions for Taiwanese manufacturers that are moving into the Cloud Computing business.
Integration of wireless communication & medical electronics drive new trend in medical care
The progress in information technology and electronic equipment has brought new applications to hospitals, medical staff, medical electronics manufacturers with the cross-industry trend between ICT products and medical electronics. This includes development in areas like hospital management system, remote medical care, wireless emergency medical service, in vitro diagnostic instruments etc. In order to assist ICT manufacturers, medical electronics manufacturers, telecommunications or system vendors to co-develop smart medical electronics industry while also providing opinions and strategies. At the “Intelligent Medical Electronics Seminar” many industry related representatives are invited, including Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital, Wan Fang Hospital, NXP Semiconductors, IBM, Carestream Health etc. Together they will discuss the current status and development of the medical electronics market in addition to an analysis of the entry threshold and the development opportunities of remote care.
Online RFID creating opportunities for "Internet of Things"
Back in 1996, Bill Gates firstly described an application scenario of “Internet of Things” in the book “The Road Ahead”. In 2005, the International Telecommunication Union used the term “Internet of Things” for the first time. In 2009, China officially put “Internet of Things” into its “12th Five-Year Plan”, planning comprehensive applications in areas like intelligent transportation, green agriculture, industrial monitoring, environmental security, smart home and home health care etc. The Topology Research Institute estimates that by the end of 2010, the wireless sensor networks and radio frequency market in China will likely exceed 10 billion RMB.
In order to assist manufacturers furthering their understanding of the current developmental status of China’s “Internet of Things”, various research agencies like Newland Group, GS1 China, Automatic Identification Manufacture Association of China, China Telecom and Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan etc. are attending the “2010 IOT Opportunities in Cross-Strait Region Seminar” to conduct cross-industry exchange.
Experience RFID live onsite with buyers log-in becoming fully Auto-ID
In order to provide overseas and domestic buyers a better service and to demonstrate practical applications of RFID during exhibition events, the organizers have specially implemented NXP RFID chips and are adopting RFID enabled Auto ID technology to shorten the verification time for buyers that enter the exhibition. Furthermore, the management system can be utilized to conduct analysis and thereby enhance ID identification efficiency and extended application of B2B exhibitions.
