《Foreign Affairs：The 53rd Venice Biennial Taiwan Pavilion returns to Taiwan》

自1995年起，北美館連續8屆以台灣館名義赴義大利參與「威尼斯雙年展」，藉由國際展覽的平台提供台灣當代藝術家一個國際發揮的舞台。2009年台灣館邀請藝術家謝英俊、陳界仁、張乾琦與余政達展出，作品類型包含攝影、錄像、裝置等綜合媒材，以「外交」為題，探討當下全球政經文化的運作下，跨地區實踐藝術的情狀與另一種溝通互動的可能，進一步探討台灣的身分認同問題。



本展於威尼斯展出時獲國際媒體與觀眾相當程度的肯定，北美館將「外交」展移師台北重現，因場地與面對的觀眾不同，相信對創作者與作品而言提供了另一種在地思考、詮釋的可能性。



北美館將於 3月18日(四)下午14：00舉辦記者會，北美館代館長、雙年展主任以及參展藝術家等人將一同為媒體朋友分享展覽理念。

Since 1995, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum has hosted the Taiwan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, providing an international platform for contemporary Taiwanese artists. The four artists, Hsieh Ying - Chun, Chen Chieh - Jen, Chang Chien - Chi and Yu Cheng - Ta, were invited to participate in the 53rd Venice Biennale Taiwan Pavilion, in 2009. The creation types were covered photography, video and installation mix materials. Under the theme Foreign Affairs, this exhibit intends to investigate trans - regional and interdisciplinary art practice, as well as other interactive possibilities in relation to political, economic and social policies deployed under the current conditions of globalization.



Foreign Affairs, received a certain level of favored response from foreign press and international visitors. TFAM will re - create this exhibit in Taipei . It is believed that to some extent, the re - presentation in a different venue and towards different audience will provide the artists alternative thoughts to interpret the existed works.



TFAM is going to hold a press conference on the Thursday, 18th of March, 14:00 pm, TFAM Acting Director, Biennial Office Director and participating artists will attend the conference. You are cordially invited.
