Bad Nauheim, August 30, 2011 – The JD Group, a major manufacturer of bicycle components and leading developer of electric technology for electric bicycles, receives the Eurobike Award 2011 for its development of the AGT gear shifting system for fully-automatic TranzX PST e-bikes. The prize will officially be presented to Johnson Cho, CEO of the JD Group, at the awards ceremony on the first day of the Eurobike show.
The Automatic Gear Transmission is the first of its kind and a revolutionary development on the e-bike market. The automatic 7-gear shift with coaster brake is a cutting-edge development with which TranzX PST is redefining its own e-bike models and providing a considerable value added benefit. The computer-controlled gear shifting system can easily be integrated into various e-bike concepts, such as the new World Bike, and is directly connected to the drive system. A significantly higher level of driving comfort, enhanced riding performance and increased energy efficiency are key advantages of the brand new AGT technology and a major upgrade for TranzX PST e-bikes.
The Eurobike Award’s seven-member jury recognized the exceptional innovation and outstanding quality by honoring the AGT technology with the prestigious Design prize. With this achievement, JD’s groundbreaking automatic gear shifting system prevailed over 430 other entries from 27 countries in the seventh year of this competition.
As part of the award, the AGT World Bike will be presented at the official awards ceremony on August 31, 2011 and showcased in a special Eurobike display in Foyer West during the entire show from August 31 to September 3, 2011. The prize-giving ceremony takes place on the Eurobike stage in the Foyer East where 59 nominees will receive the Eurobike Award. The ten most innovative of those entries will be honored with the Eurobike Gold Award.
This competition is hosted by Messe Friedrichshafen and conceived and organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hannover. The entries were judged based on the following criteria: Aerodynamics, efficiency, ergonomics, functionality, utility, design quality, weight, degree of innovation, comfort, loading, brand value / branding, choice of materials, service, safety, stability, environmental compatibility and workmanship.
