Subject 台北國際電腦展不受新型流感影響 已做好萬全準備將如期舉行 News Release:9
沒有消息就是好消息!台北國際電腦展開展在即，卻碰上新型流感疫情爆發，引起全球性恐慌，廠商害怕買主不上門，海外買主害怕出門碰上新型流感。對此，主辦單位的對外貿易發展協會與台北市電腦公會表示，台灣目前並沒有發現任何感染病例，電腦展將如期在六月二日至六日舉行。

根據世界衛生組織所公布的新型流感最新統計結果，目前全球共有21個國家1124個感染病例。而台灣目前並沒有任何境外移入或是在地感染的病例發生，顯示台灣政府的防疫工作十分完備，除了嚴格執行檢疫防疫等必要措施，也已經開始著手生產疫苗。事實上，這也不是台北國際電腦展第一次碰上全球性的疫情，早在2003年電腦展就遭逢了SARS，也因此主辦單位早有面對全球性流行傳染病的應變經驗，且相較於當年無藥可醫的SARS，新型流感是有藥控制的，且致死率低。

因此，不管是來台採購的海外買主或是參展廠商都可以放心進行預定行程。

今年的台北國際電腦展的參展廠商有1700家，使用4600個攤位，估計將吸引3萬5千名海外買主到場採購，屆時現場加上參展商及工作人員可能多達100,000人。對此，主辦單位也已經有完善措施，將配合台灣政府落實防疫工作，確保所有人員的健康安全。

Subject COMPUTEX 2009: No impact from Swine Flu, prepared as schedule News Release:9
No news is good news! COMPUTEX TAIPEI will soon unfold, but the outbreak of new type of influenza A (H1N1), known as Swin Flu causing a global panic, especially in the Northern American continent. Many people are afraid to travel into these affected areas while many of the COMPUTEX TAIPEI's exhibitors are sharing the same worry if these people or overseas buyers would not come to Taiwan. In this regard, the organizers of COMPUTEX TAIPEI exhibition namely Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), urging the public and foreigners to remain calm said that there is NO CASE of Swine Flu infection found in Taiwan.

According to the World Health Organization's (WHO) latest update on the influenza A (H1N1) outbreak, 21 countries have officially reported 1,124 cases of infection. While there have not been any imported or non-imported cases of infection occurred in Taiwan, the Taiwanese government is well-prepared to cope with any possible contingency. In addition to strictly enforce necessary measures such as vaccination and quarantine in response to the influenza A (H1N1) threat, Taiwan has already started on the production of vaccine.

In fact, this is not the first time that COMPUTEX TAIPEI faced a global epidemic. In 2003, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) triggered a global crisis and hit COMPUTEX TAIPEI hard hereby the organizers have had experience in facing global pandemic strain. Compared to no cure for SARS, there are medications that can cure influenza A (H1N1) infection, lowered the death rate in developed countries.

Therefore, whether you are oversea buyers or exhibitors in Taiwan, you can be assured to proceed with your itinerary.

This year COMPUTEX TAIPEI hosts 1,700 exhibitors and showcases 4,600 booths estimated to attract 35,000 overseas buyers. Given that there will be nearly 100,000 exhibitors and staff at the scene, organizers also are establishing measures to work with the Taiwanese Government in implementing the vaccination and ensuring the health and safety of all personnel.
