在全球金融海嘯之下，台灣ICT產業深受影響，無論是企業、消費者市場或產業整體面，都面臨重大衝擊。在此衝擊中，廠商固然面對眾多挑戰，但危機也是轉機，這一波金融海嘯也衍生出不少新興需求。即將於今年6月2日至6日舉行的COMPUTEX TAIPEI台北國際電腦展，在不景氣大環境下，展覽規模仍維持不墜，共計有1,700家參展商，使用4,600個攤位，共同為台灣ICT產業盡心盡，主辦單位台北市電腦商業同業公會特別設定Let’s MOVE forward (向前邁進) 為主題，以實際行動，打敗不景氣，呼應廠商與全球接軌。

O：Overall Computing 全面性電腦產品，延伸新興需求
V：Variety Display 多樣化顯示器，提升數位生活化
E：Environment 關心環境，進入綠色環保新時代
今年WiMAX 成為COMPUTEX 的新主軸，並向全球展現台灣WiMAX產業能量，共同行銷 M-Taiwan 與台灣資通訊產品的成果；今年特別將WiMAX 與通訊產品共同規畫展出，攤位規模達700 個攤位，並以「WiMAX 向前挺進（WiMAX On the Move）」為本次宣傳標語，以『創新、躍進、啟動』三大特色，於6 月2~6 日假台北世貿中心一館展出，期許藉由WiMAX 產業帶動台灣ICT 產業再創另一波高峰。
WiMAX的未來發展前景尚未明朗，但國內多家網通廠商已經陸續卡位進軍WiMAX 產業。像是今年參展商大同電信的自有品牌網卡就是由華碩、廣達代工，而華碩、正文生產的網卡產品也陸續銷往俄羅斯、馬來西亞。這次國內大同電信開台所使用的WiMAX 網卡，就是由廣達及智邦所代工，除了供應國內電信業者之外，幾家網通大廠也都有出貨給國外WiMAX 業者，像正文就是馬來西亞電信業者 PocketOne的供應商。而米迪亞內建WiMAX的 MID 將在9月份正式出貨，今年的COMPUTEX還將發表一款WiMAX行動上網新產品，預計明年量產。
今年的M-Taiwan 主題館將以政府服務為展出之主軸，透過最新的國產WiMAX 終端裝置，現場LIVE 展示與民眾息息相關的安全監控服務，如：急難救助、砂石車管理、貨物報關管理等，此主題館由經濟部工業局指導，警政署、工研院、資策會、高雄縣政府等共同展出。
繼去年的展館間WiMAX 接駁巴士體驗，今年將推出WiMAX上捷運體驗，由威邁思等營運商在台北市捷運路段(木柵與內湖線)示範WiMAX；車廂內將裝設由國內網通大廠智邦、華碩、東訊等提供的接收設備，與台北市政府合作於車廂中提供展期間活動的即時轉播服務。這項WiMAX上捷運服務的體驗期達一年，期望藉由大眾捷運系統讓WiMAX的觸角深入生活，落實台北市的『無線之都』願景，迎接台灣的WiMAX時代來臨。

Subject New era of wireless broadband has come, all related products set to exhibition during COMPUTEX TAIPEI News Release: 8
The global financial downturn has somewhat influence not only the Taiwan ICT industry, but also the consumer’s market that give enterprise in all sector a big headache. Majority of the local manufacturers are experiencing doubts while facing numerous challenges, but the financial crisis will also create many new possible chances. Despite of great pressure, the organizers of Taipei International Computer Show (also known as COMPUTEX TAIPEI) reported the scale of the exhibition did not reduce, but maintain a manageable level where there are 1,700 exhibitors and using 4,600 booths, will be the heart of Taiwan ICT industry and the commercial trade platform of overseas buyers. As co-organizers, Taipei Computer Association (TCA) launched main slogan: “Let' s M.O.V.E. Forward “, calling all exhibitors, overseas buyers and local manufacturers to join forces and break the current situation in the whole world.
M.O.V.E. represents the following relevant purposes:
M: Mobility WiMAX offers limitless business opportunity
O: Overall Computing extends comprehensive computer products
V: Variety Display offers improve digital living
E: Environment enters new era of “green” environmental protection
WiMAX becomes the newest event in this year’s COMPUTEX TAIPEI, which also unfold WiMAX industry in Taiwan as the source of energy to the whole world with great achievements of M-Taiwan and Taiwan-made communication products. From June 2~6, COMPUTEX will host WiMAX & Communication together in one place, located at TWTC Hall with total 700 booth used at the same time timing marketing motto “WiMAX On the MOVE” based on three chief characteristics of: New Ideas, Leap Forward and Gigantic Stimulation is expect to drive Taiwan ICT industry to create another peak of waves again, relying on WiMAX industry.
The prospect of future development of WiMAX is not yet clear, but it opens door for local manufacturers to develop their own product solutions, fueling success into WiMAX industry. This year, Tatung Infocomm has introduced its own brand of network cards who is reportedly working relationship with local companies like Asus and Quanta as OEM partners; while Gemtek is manufacturing telecommunication products for international enterprises in Malaysia, Russia and so forth. In domestic market, Tatung Infocomm is introducing WiMAX network card, which is said manufactured by either Asus or Accton while other communication companies are producing related cards. Sources reported that the supplier of PocketOne is cooperating with Malaysian government to support telecommunication industry in their country. Dmedia is making proto-type of WiMAX module that is designed for MID, which is rumor to display during COMPUTEX as the first delivery schedule is in September. WiMAX willl be the hottest issue during COMPUTEX 2009 and set of new products will continue to emerge as the volume production is believed to start in next year.
The theme pavilion, the government will head as they will move the M-Taiwan project will working WiMAX solutions and on-the-spot LIVE shows and public society related to security surveillance control and services such as Emergency Assistance, Sand Truck Management, Goods Dispatching from ports. Meanwhile, the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will lead government agency along with Police Administration, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Institute for Information Industry (III) and Kashiung County Government Office will display working solutions.
In cooperation with Taipei City Hall and Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. (TRTC) that the Taipei city Metro MRT System from Taipei city Neihu Line and to Mucha LRT line will be installed with WiMAX-enabled solution for the first time. Thanks to the support coming from Accton, Asustek and Far EasTone Telecom that will equip these wireless broadband equipments for a year. With approval from Taipei City Hall, events and activities will be conducted in order to educate local residents to use WiMAX communication that will further improve their daily lives. Taipei city will fulfill and become wireless capital in the world. To continue from last year’s WiMAX Taipei Expo is the Shuttle Bus, which is equipped with WiMAX solution that will roam around the exhibition halls.
