Leading in LEDs! Brighter than ever
TILS 2011 delivers new lighting & business!

March 2011 Taipei, Taiwan: Strong interest, growth and innovation are spotlighted everywhere at TiLS2011, Taiwan’s largest lighting show that shines from March 18 to 21 at TWTC Exhibition Hall 1. Success at this event, in its second year, is guaranteed with the coupling up of TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA) to organize TiLs (the Taiwan International Lighting Show).

With Epistar, Formosa Epitaxy, AMKO SOLARA, Taiwan-N Lighting, LEDTECH, Wellypower, Advanced Connecteck, TYC Brother, BJB , Neo-Neon, LVD, AURORA, Avertronics, Buckingham and more; a total of 266 lighting firms will use 634 booths at the show—representing an amazing growth rate of more than 50%!. This growth not only demonstrates the diverse and competitive landscape of the domestic lighting industry, but also shows that TILS 2011 has grown into a distinguished annual gathering that foreign and domestic LED lighting firms simply must attend.

A Wealth of Diverse Exhibits Spotlight a Fresh Perspective
TILS2011 exhibits include home, commercial, industrial, office, and outdoor lighting, as well as LED technology, lamp components and parts, lighting control systems, and lighting manufacturing equipment and instrumentation.

In the midst of a vigorous global push towards energy conservation and environmental protection, over the past few years Taiwan's lighting industry firms have successively developed all kinds of new energy conserving lighting products, including outdoor lighting that received the US's coveted ETL certification; LED bulbs and tubes that are both CE certified and RoHS compliant; emergency lighting and wall fixtures with both Taiwan's BSMI and Germany's GS certifications; innovative, specially molded LED candle bulbs; LED napkin holders; small, easy to operate, high quality LED testing instruments; and different types of lighting such as skylights, food display lighting, cabinet lighting; street lights; dimmable bulbs that offer consumers flexibility; and lighting control systems capable of creating distinctive atmospheres.

With new lighting that utilizes aesthetic and design considerations and integrates eco-friendliness and technology, TiLS will inspire buyers with the lat4est breakthroughs and advances in contemporary lighting.

Complete LED Industry Chain; Expands into Global Markets
Taiwan holds the world's top spot in LED output and its industrial strength and LED industry chain ranks second in output value. Also, with more than 30 year's strength in the optical semiconductor industry, and through the integration of diverse industries and R&D, over the past few years Taiwan's LED lighting industry has had astonishingly rapid growth which has helped to turn around this once traditional industry.

It is plausible that with the combined efforts of government and the public that Taiwan over the next five years could become the world's production base for high value LED lighting products and the world's largest LED light source and module supplier. Complementing Taiwan's dominant industry strength, the first ever TILS emerged in 2010. In one fell swoop, it successfully pushed Taiwan's lighting industry onto the world stage.

This four-day show attracted a total of 10,913 professional visitors and is currently the only domestic professional lighting exhibition to receive so much attention! This year's TiLS continues to provide industry players with a prestigious platform to display their meticulously developed lighting products.

In addition, a complete upstream, midstream, and downstream industry structure allows Taiwan's LED industry to display its strengths to buyers while assisting domestic firms in carving out a niche in the international lighting production supply chain and maximizing opportunities to expand into global markets.

Show events spotlight new momentum across lighting
March 10: Innovative Products Announcement; Display of R&D Strength
To encourage firms devoted to product innovation and development, the show's sponsors will hold a special innovative product selection event. Each of the 87 products entered have undergone intense competition to be short listed as one of the 10 products to make the final list. Prior to the show, winning products will be exposed for the first time at a press conference with live interviews by media outlets, and then be displayed in a special area throughout the show. This also allows visitors a chance to personally experience the innovation and thought that went into these lighting products while also assisting manufacturers by increasing new product exposure, creating buzz, and generating business opportunities!

March 18: Int’l Forums-Feeling the Pulse of the Global LED Industry
For the main themes of the show's International Forums the organizers have chosen “LED Process Equipment and Technology Development” and “Cross-Strait LED Industrial Development on Manufacture and Application”.

Coming to the forum are specially invited guests Dr. Enboa Wu, Vice President and Group Director, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI); Mr. Masaki Mukaiyama, Associate Vice President, NICHIA Taiwan Co.; Ms. Amy Chien, Assistant To President, Formosa Epitaxy; Mr. Eric Zhou, General Manager, NVC Lighting Technology; Mr. Rodger Lu, Managing Director, Great China, TRIDONIC (Shanghai); and additional industry heavyweights who explore the industry's technological developments and the market's newest business opportunities with domestic industry representatives.

March 19: Seminar on Trends in the Industry-
Industry Insider Exchanges
This year, the organizers will host a series of international seminars featuring topics such as "LED Lighting Development Trends"; "Development and Trends in LED Lighting Connectors"; "LED Packaging Process and Equipment Technology Development"; and "the Latest EPA ENERGY STAR Standards".

Interactive exchanges between senior management from Germany's BJB; the US's Underwriters Laboratories in Taiwan; Germany's major lamp manufacturer Trilux; several lecturers from ITRI's Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center; and domestic industry insiders will bring to light new ideas and help brief industry professionals on the latest technologies and international market trends while offering tips on how to expand global business opportunities.

March 19: 1-on-1 Procurement Meetings & Follow-up Biz Prospects
Through its 56 locations abroad, TAITRA has invited global buyers to Taiwan to attend the show and make purchases. And with customization services, procurement business opportunities have been greatly expanded. What's more, the show goes one step further by organizing one-on-one meetings between important overseas buyers and exhibiting manufacturers to provide a direct, effective sales channel while facilitating the sales of Taiwan products on the international market.

As soon as procurement meetings were announced, there was a large and immediate response from participating manufacturers. Nearly 200 meetings have already been scheduled with more than 30 heavyweight lighting industry buyers from European, the USA and those in developing markets such as Brazil's Lampadas Golden and Intral S.A. Industria de Materiais Electricos; Japan's Don Quijote Co. ltd.; Hong Kong's Home retail group (ASIA) Ltd. and LG Sourcing, INC; Germany's TRILUX GMBH & CO. KG and Warsaw AB S.A.

They will come to Taiwan primarily to carry out procurement programs that include LED-related lighting products and components. This yet again demonstrates Taiwan's reputation for LED products among international buyers, so look forward to on-the-spot business opportunities.

March 18-21: 10 New Innovative Products to be Unveiled
A show product display area showcases 10 new innovative products from Taiwan which have been meticulously developed. All products on display will have undergone strict examination and gained the approval of several professionals and academics.
The 10 short listed products on display are: KYOHAYA TECHNOLOGY's Multifunction Rechargeable Emergency Light; Lite Puter Enterprise's 6 Channel Integrated Dimmer Pack; Lei Yueh Enterprise's LED Glass Brick light; Ledgend Technology's 3D LED Crystal Cube; Diamontex's Automatic Fading LED Bulb; Advanced-Connectek's Dimmable LED Street Lamp without Adaptor/Twist and the Dimmable HV LED Pendant Lamp /Book; Darfon Lighting's "ALBERO" LED Floor Lamp; Just Power Integrated Technology's Smart lighting-Chandeliers; and AUORA's Color Mixing and Dimmable LED Downlight. All of these share one thing in common, a zest for aesthetic design and a passion for intelligent power conservation.

TILS 2011 is not just about the latest industry trends; professional displays, seminars, and diverse open discussions. It also underscores a distinguished annual lighting industry that is achieving record growth.

TiLS 2011 aims to light up the world! See it Mar. 18-21 at TWTC Hall 1.

Location: Taipei World Trade Center, Conference Rooms 4 and 5

Chairman David Chang of The Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association (TLFEA), our friends in the media, and all visiting manufacturers: Welcome, and good morning. On behalf of TAITRA, I would like to first thank all of you for taking the time to attend the pre-show press conference and Innovation Products Launch for the 2011 Taiwan International Lighting Show.

Welcoming New Prospects in Lighting and the support of Taiwan Businesses

The Second Taiwan International Lighting Show, jointly organized by TAITRA and TLFEA, will be taking place at the Taipei World Trade Center from March 18th through March 21st 2011. Exhibitors include Epistar, Forepi, D&A International, Taiwan-N Lighting Co. Ltd., Ledtech Electronics Co. Ltd., Wellypower Optronics Corp., Advanced-Connectek Inc., BJB Electric Taiwan Corp., TYC Brother Industrial Co. Ltd., Neo-Neon LED Lighting International Ltd., LVD International Light & Energy Corp., AURORA, Avertronics Inc. and Buckingham Industrial Corp. There are 266 exhibitors (compared with last year’s 170), using 634 booths (compared with last year’s 400). That’s a 50 percent growth in exhibition scale! This rapid expansion once again underscores the strong potential and enormous business opportunities offered by the lighting industry in Taiwan.

This year's show offers up a diverse range of products. In order to emphasize Taiwanese lighting manufacturers' spirit for innovative product research and development, the organizers are holding the Innovation Award contest. This year, 50 manufacturers representing 87 products will be participating in the contest - and competition is fierce. The ten products making the finalists list will be displayed today at the exhibition area during the press conference. Among the finalists are the “ALBERO” LED Floor Lamp (2011 Golden Pin Design Award Industrial Design finalist) by Darfon Lighting Corp., the 3D LED Crystal Cube (which shows 3D visual effects in full color) by Ledgend Technology Inc., the Dimmable LED Street Lamp without Adaptor/Twist (2011 Taiwan Excellence Award winner) by Advanced-Connectek Inc., the Smart lighting- Chandeliers (remote controlled with dual purposes for indoor lighting and emergency lighting) by Just Power Integrated Technology Inc., and the Automatic Fading LED Bulb (with lighting that doesn’t immediately turn off after power is cut) by Diamontex Co. Ltd. These products will also be shown during the Lighting Show at the Innovation Products Exhibition Area. The three winners of the Innovation Award will be announced at the award ceremony on the first day of the Lighting Show on March 18th.

TAITRA Organizes International Forums and Seminars to Encourage New Ideas in the Industry
In order to help Taiwan businesses stay current with international lighting industry trends, TAITRA and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) are organizing two forums and nine seminars during the Lighting Show on March 18th and March 19th. The forum topics are LED Process Equipment and Technology Development and Cross-Strait LED Industrial Development of Manufacturing and Applications; forum leaders, among others, include Dr. Enboa Wu, Vice President of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI); Mr. Masaki Mukaiyama, Associate Manager of Nichia Corp.; Mr. Karl Köberl, Product Manager of Austria Company Tridonic; Mr. Eric Zhou, General Manager of NVC Lighting Technology Corp. Shanghai Research Center; and Ms. Amy Chien, Assistant to Chairman of Formosa Epitaxy Inc.. It is estimated that more than 300 business professionals will be in attendance.

The nine professional seminars cover such popular topics as the Development And Trend of Specific LED-Lighting Applications, LED Lighting Industry Trends & Updates on the Latest EPA Requirements on ENERGY STAR®, and LED Lighting Product Specifications. The industry-specific talks will be hosted by various figures from across industry, including the director of production and materials procurement from the key German lighting manufacturer Trilux, a marketing manager from the American company UL, a business manager for the Asia-region from BJB of Germany, and other experts from ITRI. The goal is to help business achieve a better understanding of the strengths of the lighting industry and Blue Ocean opportunities offered by Taiwan, as well as to help expand the international market.

TAITRA Invites International Buyers to Visit Taiwan, Resulting in 200 Procurement Meetings!
In an effort to further increase business opportunities for exhibitors, TAITRA and our 56 overseas offices have actively invited international buyers to attend the Lighting Show and procurement meetings. In additional to buyers from European countries, the United States, and Japan, buyers have also come from the emerging markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Ukraine, Mexico, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
TAITRA is also concurrently organizing one-on-one procurement meetings to be held on the second day of the Lighting Show, which will offer exhibitors the chance to have one-on-one business discussions with thirty-one major buyers from around the world, including Don Quijote, the Japanese discount chain store operator with a yearly turnover of 5 billion USD; AB S.A., Poland's biggest lighting product dealer, with a yearly turnover of 540 million USD; TRILUX, the German lighting manufacturer with a yearly turnover of 500 million USD; Luming Science and Technology Group, based in Dalian with a yearly turnover of 300 million USD; LAMPADAS GOLDEN, Brazil's largest indoor lighting products dealer, and many other buyers with yearly turnover exceeding 50 million USD.

Procurement items include LED indoor and outdoor lighting, including LED streetlights, LED tubes, energy-efficient LED light bulbs, and LED accessories. It is evident that LED products researched and developed in Taiwan have gained the favor of international buyers. The procurement meetings garnered positive responses from exhibitors immediately, and nearly 200 procurement meetings have been scheduled already, pointing to the promise of even great business prospects down the road.

The Second Taiwan International Lighting Show will take place at the Taipei World Trade Center on March 18th and runs for four days. I hope that all our friends in the media will be able to attend this event and give it good coverage. I would like to extend my thanks once again to the media and participating exhibitors for attending this press conference, as well as for extending your support to TILS.

I wish good health and good luck to you all!

Speech by Mr. David Chang, Chairman, TLFEA
presented at the Pre-Show Press Conference and Innovative
Products Launch prior to TILS 2011

Mr. Chao, President & CEO, Mr. M.C. Hong, Exhibition Department Director of, TAITRA , Mr. Yao, the Convenor of the Board of Supervisors of TLFEA , Mr. Lin and Feng, both are vice chairmen of TLFEA, friends from media and from lighting field, good morning. On behalf of Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association, thank you for sparing your time to attend "Press Conference & Innovation Products Launch” of Taiwan International Lighting Show.

Due to the remarkable success for the 1st edition of Taiwan International Lighting Show, TILS has doubled its exhibition size and expand in the numbers of exhibitors and visitors for this year. Fully supported by Bureau of Foreign Trade and the members of lighting field, and particularly thank you for our members of staff who put a lot of effort into this exhibition. As a result of their earnest work, we achieved its goal much sooner than we had anticipated. Nearly a year of preparation and arrangement, 2nd edition of TILS will be held on March 18 to 21 in Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 Area A & D, participated by a number of 266 exhibitors. The total booth number is 634. Until now, there are still a number of companies who still are on the waiting list.

Furthermore, since our lighting manufacturing industry has been moved mainly to Mainland China, resulting in the decline in exhibitors for lighting industry exhibition, which had gradually began to wane and even been suspended. Therefore, our members have been expecting TLFEA to establish a robust and well-organized International lighting show one day. We never forget to aim to live up to the expectations of our members all the way. That’s one of the crucial factors why we and TAITRA team up to organize Taiwan International Lighting Show.

Besides, we held seminar series I: Trend of LED Lighting seminar held at Taipei World Trade Center on October 22. A large number of participants gather this seminar on that day, indicating more and more people have been increasingly paying great attention to LED lighting. Taiwan has a nearly 30-year history in LED manufacturing, LED for lighting applications have become increasingly popular in recent years. Since such a new light source is taking the world by storm, in the meantime a thorough research and revolution of different types of lighting for traditional lighting industry have been rapidly developed. Since the LED lighting market is expected to have a promising future, either LED chips or LED package have been aggressively entering the LED lighting market as well. Besides, more and more companies from power supplies, thermal module and semiconductor also vigorously attempted to get into lighting application field.

In March of 2011, a Taiwan’s annual biggest event in the lighting industry, which features on Taiwan lighting. It dedicated to displaying huge potentials of Taiwan lighting industry. In order to consolidate and enhance the International lighting show in Taiwan, we hope we can have more news coverage from media friends to assist us in boosting publicity. Also, we and TAITRA will do our best to make the content of our exhibition much more substantial and be more international in the future.
