美國Santa Clara （12月13日），2011年。 WiGig Alliance發佈兩項新的PALs (Protocol Adaptation Layer協定協議配接層) 規格，分別是WDE(WiGig Display Extension視訊延伸)與WSE (WiGig Serial Extension序列延伸)，同時補強 WBE (WiGig Bus Extension匯流排延伸)以及MAC(Medium Access Control，媒介存取控制層)/PHY（Physical Layer，實體層）的規格。
今年可說是WiGig推展工作成果豐碩的一年，除WiGig聯盟成功首次舉辦獲得國際電信聯盟ITU-R的認可的插拔互通測試大會活動外，也成立了基座規格工作小組（Docking Task Group）負責制訂產出全球第一個Multi-Gigabit Wireless無線基座規格。
WiGig 聯盟希望邀請更多的應用開發廠商，參與這全球統一的Multi-gigabit 無線技術基座規格的工作小組，藉此將這技術應用在更多產品上，包括無線擴充基座 (wireless docking) ，以及顯示器、電腦、家電和手持裝置間的連線 ，帶給智慧家庭網路創新性的革命。
WiGig 聯盟主席Ali Sadri表示，我們於今年已經完成即將成為全球最重要的短距離無線通訊標準與足予讓產業撼動的 - Multi-gigabit無線基座技術規格，這對WiGig 聯盟而言，這是重要的里程碑，也希望能邀請更多的廠商來加入。
IMS Research 資深市場分析師Filomena Berardi 指出，WiGig 聯盟成長的速度非常快速，包括規格的制定、促進產業成員參與插拔測試大會，也獲得國際電信組織ITU的認可，而剛宣布完成兩項PALs層規格及成立Multi-gigabit無線基座工作小組的消息，也促使 60GHz 高速傳輸的技術居於領先的地位。對消費者而言，明年即將能體驗到更方便優質的服務。
自WiGig 聯盟成立以來，這標準主要將用於無線基座、高畫質影片以及無線網路傳輸三大領域，完成WSE及WDE規格的制定，補強MAC/PHY 以及WEB的規格，WiGig 聯盟已逐漸邁向實現家庭及辦公室內高速傳輸之願景。

PAL： Protocol Adaptation Layer，協定協議配接層，PAL可讓電腦和消費電子連接介面建置無線60 GHz WiGig網路，PAL能使建置更為簡易，可開發具備內建支援的裝置。
WDE：WiGig Display Extension，Wireless Gigabit視訊延伸，允許音訊/視訊數據的無線傳輸，如可從電腦或數位相機將影片傳送到電視或投影機。WDE是業界唯一定義Display Port顯示器與HDMI電視機視頻傳輸架構的60GHz標準，將實現如無線傳輸壓縮和非壓縮視頻等重要應用。

World’s first unified multi-gigabit wireless docking group formed by WiGig Alliance
Santa Clara, CA. December 12, 2011. The WiGig Alliance has published two new Protocol Adaptation Layer (PAL) specifications, the WiGig Display Extension (WDE) and the WiGig Serial Extension (WSE) to supplement the previously published WiGig Bus Extension (WBE) and MAC/PHY specifications.
This accomplishment completes an amazingly successful year for the organization which has hosted the first ever interoperability test event, received ITU-R endorsement and formed a docking task group chartered with creating the world’s first multi-gigabit wireless docking specification.
The WiGig Alliance is now calling for developer involvement in the creation of the world’s first unified specification for multi-gigabit wireless docking. Creation and publication of the specification will revolutionize home networking by enabling a broad range of advanced uses, including wireless docking and connection to displays between personal computers, consumer electronics and PC, CE, handheld devices.
“We have reached a major milestone this year with the completion of all the necessary components of the first ever multi-gigabit wireless docking specification,” said WiGig Alliance President and Chairman, Dr. Ali Sadri. “We are now calling for industry players to participate in what will be the world’s most important short-range wireless standard and a shake up for the industry.”

Since WiGig’s inception in 2009, the three main usage pillars have been wireless docking, wireless high definition video and wireless networking.
