The EETO unveils 'EU Connections' 7 May 2012 On the eve of Europe Day, the EETO unveiled 'EU Connection' to the public today. 'EU Connection is a small handbook in both Chinese and English (electronic version) that acts as a portal to links and sources of information regarding the EU and EU-Taiwan relations. It is tailor made for Taiwanese professionals including journalists, academics, business people, government officials and NGOs. 'EU Connections' was presented to reporters in a press conference by Frederic Laplanche, Head of EETO. "EU Connections is the first of its kind in the world. We want to give you the key to first hand information regarding the EU, so you don't get lost in the vast web of EU institutions and acronyms that may sometimes seem a bit daunting." explains Mr Laplanche. 'EU Connections' is divided into three main categories: General Information, the EU at Work, and Practical Tools. 'General Information' contains basic information regarding the EU, EU's presence in Taiwan, as well as useful information for journalists when covering EU related stories. 'the EU at Work' covers many aspects of the EU policy functions, and gives useful links to people who wish to understand more on the content of EU policies. Lastly, 'Practical Tools' allow users to find information on travelling in the EU, as well as laws and regulations. 'EU Connection' is further divided in sixteen sections including: A general glance, EU in Taiwan, practical info for journalists, economy and the Euro, Trade, EU foreign policy, human rights, climate change and energy, environment protection, EU's research and innovation policy, Education, Social policy, Health and consumer protection, travelling in the EU, Rules and regulations, EU member states offices in Taiwan. EU Connections' electronic version in both English and Chinese can also be downloaded on EETO's website. Users can access the websites presented within by simply clicking on the hyperlinks.
